scattered thoughts very very scattered thoughts
of those I've known and those I've sought
of all the times that I forgot
I've lied to you though many times I've said the truth
about the dreams and their hues
and about what makes us two
though we've agreed to build a flower from a seed
you cannot force souls into seeds
you cannot modify this breed
necessity the key is in the chemistry
when it is in absentee
the time is for a eulogy
a time to kill the time that kills
to revive initial wills
and rid it of its fatal ills
it's the touch that makes one feel at ease
the passion that makes one feel at home
without the air there'd be no breeze
to resuscitate the breathless
it's when a smile has a scent
when the light can be bent and still
the vision is neither obscured nor tainted
it's when dreams can differ
but the language is the same
when logic whithers and
the language spoken remains the same
it is when it becomes love itself
and when love itself is incarnated into
the living being that is you... And you
it's when you're as free as ever
free from burden, negativity, and self-restraint
when heavy weights are feather-light
when your wings are broken and you're still in flight
in retrospect
as I continue to self-reflect
it is not about the mere cause and effect
the standard ends not at respect
a time to kill

Her Faces
One face, two face, three face, four
Multiples of a thousand and more
A face for classmates and colleagues
Another for friends at the parties
One for dinner and one for dessert
A third for me, and one for her
One she shows when she feels down
Two she shows when she wears the crown
In theatre there are two masks
One for tears and one for laughs
Faces she wears at masquerades
Are faces she designed and made
All she wears on a single day
When she sleeps, wakes, and when she prays
And though the faces always change
The memory of them will remain
She will also stay the same...

Musical Thoughts: Music or Lack Thereof
Remove the bass
Eliminate lead guitars
Filter backing vocals
Mute frequencies afar
Discard all percussion
Exclude the winds and strings
Wipe out the pianos
And the feelings they bring
When all sounds are annihilated
You cease to hear any music
... Only the lack thereof

Time
The sharp blade that divides in two
An hour glass leads me to you
Grains of sand move over sea
Withstand the force of gravity
When fall is changing into spring
It is where I end, and we begin.

Silent
Written by Yara Ghazi
In your words I long for silence,
A moment when you don't exist.
With those syllables that come between us,
Your hollow façade still seems to persist.
Those words which singularly gave me joy,
That joy they took back so easily,
Now serve to only anger and annoy,
Trickling off your tongue so sleazily.
Save your grace and speak no more,
For around me that would be your safest bet.
At the very least, your silence will just bore,
And at the most, it'll help me forget.

Musical Notes: Words
They are made to express
Words come out in ways
That wipe out “ignorance is bliss”
When they only reveal the truth
A word can be split into fractions
Yet only unite the youth
While ensuring their deepening
Words are the only melodies
That make me stand… and sing.
